
PETALING JAYA: A total of 1,515 road accidents were reported yesterday as people returned to their hometowns to celebrate Aidilfitri, with 26 people losing their lives.
Bukit Aman’s traffic investigation and enforcement department said this was a decrease of 772 crashes but nine more deaths compared with Thursday.
On Thursday, 2,287 crashes were reported in which 17 people were killed.
More than 2.3 million vehicles were expected on highways over the festive season, while Bukit Aman deployed 5,544 traffic policemen nationwide to ensure road safety and reduce crashes as well as congestion.
