PETALING JAYA: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah will be fielding Parti Cinta Sabah president Anifah Aman for the Bongawan seat in the Nov 29 state election.

Anifah had declared his intention to contest the seat in May and challenge the incumbent, Warisan’s Daud Yusof.

“The chief minister (Hajiji Noor) wishes Bongawan, whose incumbent is from the opposition, to be represented by a government party once again for the sake of its development,” said the chief minister’s office in a statement today.

In the 16th Sabah election in 2020, PCS candidates lost in all the 73 state seats they contested in, including Anifah losing in Bongawan.

Before Daud, the seat was held by current deputy foreign minister Mohamad Alamin from Umno.
