Q Centre Group, a home-gown provider of high-quality worker accommodation, has achieved a significant milestone today (Nov 6) with the groundbreaking ceremony of Q Centre @ Teratai, its latest centralised labour quarters (CLQ) and purpose-built workers’ accommodation (PBWA) development in Meru, Klang.
The event graced by Selangor Menterti Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari is a feather in Q Centre Group’s cap in its quest to enhance the living standards of Malaysia’s workforce through sustainable, well-managed and technologically-enabled accommodation solutions.
“Q Centre @ Teratai embodies our commitment to re-defining the standards of workforce housing in Malaysia,” commented Q Centre Group’s joint managing director Datuk Simon David Leong.
“It is not just about building accommodation – it’s about creating a sustainable, secure and technology-driven living environment that uplifts worker well-being and supports industrial productivity.”
The ultimate aim is to ensure that Selangor becomes the national model for ESG (environmental, social and governance)-compliant worker accommodation, according to Leong.
Designed for up to 9,000 beds, Q Centre @ Teratai is posed to be the largest planned CLQ in Klang. Construction works – including earthworks and piling – are scheduled to begin in January 2026 with completion slated for December 2027.
AI-driven design
Q Centre Group recently announced its landmark 8,000-bed AI (artificial intelligence)-enabled CLQ at the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) – Malaysia’s first smart CLQ that integrates AI building management, energy optimisation and digital monitoring systems.
Moving forward, all upcoming Q Centre Group developments will feature AI Intelligent capabilities, tech management system, GreenRE-certified designs, solar power integration and rainwater harvesting systems to ensure full alignment with Malaysia’s ESG and carbon reduction commitments.
“We plan to do our part in reducing the carbon footprint in Klang and to build multiple CLQs to support Selangor’s industrial growth,” enthused the group’s joint managing director Datuk Wira Joey Yan.
“Our developments are designed to meet both national standards and international ESG expectations, thus ensuring that manufacturers and exporters in Selangor can comply with global sustainability requirements.”
Q Centre Group’s current expansion aligns closely with the Selangor state government’s aspiration to house all foreign workers in properly licensed and managed CLQs starting with Klang and Shah Alam.
This initiative supports both state-level planning and Malaysia’s export industries where proper worker accommodation is an essential ESG compliance factor in global supply chains.
Towards this end, Q Centre Group is executing an ambitious five-year expansion plan to deliver over 50,000 beds nationwide by establishing a network of modern, compliant and sustainable CLQs across Peninsular Malaysia.
Each development will incorporate:
Comprehensive amenities such as canteens, recreation areas, commercial laundry, WiFi connectivity and prayer facilities;
24-hour security, facial recognition access, CCTV systems and emergency zones; and
Health, safety and welfare management in full compliance with the Workers’ Minimum Standards of Housing and Amenities Act 1990 (Act 446) and the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) standards. – Nov 6, 2025
