PETALING JAYA: A former cancer patient claimed she divorced her spouse seven years ago since he disagreed with her decision to have a mastectomy to remove one of her breasts.
Mimi Mohd, 54, of Terengganu, claimed she had stage four breast cancer however her then-husband had discouraged her from undergoing the potentially life-saving operation.
“I was determined to go ahead with the surgery even though my then-husband did not consent.” “I felt like my life was more important,“ the mother of four was reported as saying by Harian Metro.
Mimi stated that her ex-husband pushed on standard therapy before deciding on a mastectomy.
She rejected since physicians had advised her to have one breast removed immediately to prevent the cancer from spreading.
“Before filing for divorce, he stated that someone with breast cancer, such as myself, could only live for a year.” That is Allah’s choice, in my opinion. “I’m still alive after seven years,“ she remarked.
Mimi admitted that she is now depressed as a result of the divorce, but she is grateful that she was saved from a “worldly hell” by marrying an ungrateful person.
Harian Metro met her at an event sponsored by the Terengganu Shariah judiciary department in order to receive alimony assistance from them.
