PETALING JAYA: A 52-year-old woman was found dead at her home in Taman Desa Murni, Butterworth, Penang, lying in a pool of blood with a stab wound to her chest.
Berita Harian reported that the victim’s husband found her body in their bedroom on the upper floor of their terrace house at about 9.30am.
Her husband checked the bedroom after she did not come downstairs as usual to prepare breakfast. He found the door locked from the inside but managed to enter and discovered her covered in blood.
A team from the Seberang Perai Utara police’s criminal investigation department, along with forensic officers, later investigated the scene and seized a knife.
It is understood that the victim had been undergoing psychiatric treatment. Preliminary investigations have found no evidence of foul play. The case has been classified as sudden death pending the results of the post-mortem.
Seberang Perai Utara police chief Anuar Abdul Rahman told FMT that a full report on the incident will be issued once the post-mortem is completed.
