GEORGE TOWN: Police will summon independent preacher Zamri Vinoth to assist in an investigation into alleged threatening, provocative and racist remarks made during a TikTok live broadcast.
Penang police chief Azizee Ismail said this comes after a police report was lodged against Zamri on March 8.
“We will summon him to assist in the investigation. He is expected to present himself to provide a statement soon,” he told Bernama tonight.
The case is being investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948, Section 504 of the Penal Code for intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of the peace, and Section 233(1) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
Separately, Azizee said police are in the final stages of completing an investigation report on a criminal intimidation and mischief incident involving a vehicle driven by Zamri on March 7.
He said six men aged between 20 and 31 had been detained to assist in the investigation under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation, and Section 427 of the same code for committing mischief.
