PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has denied a Bloomberg report alleging that some of its officers are part of a “corporate mafia” involved in company takeovers.
MACC said this allegation initially surfaced in an online blog that had no author’s name, describing the claim as baseless and malicious.
“The commission views the spread of this false accusation seriously, especially when it can affect public confidence in enforcement action conducted legally.
“This accusation is an attempt at tarnishing the credibility of investigations and enforcement action taken by the commission in the corporate sector,” it said, according to Sinar Harian.
