PETALING JAYA: Graphic artist and social activist Fahmi Reza said Bukit Aman police asked him 45 questions about his Kelas Demokrasi video on Sabah governor Musa Aman when he was questioned by them today.

Fahmi said he was asked about his intentions in creating the video and whether he intended to influence Sabahan voters in the Nov 29 state election.

“I answered that the real purpose of the educational video is to share knowledge and raise awareness of democracy.

“I also said that Sabahans are smart enough to make their own decisions,” he said in a Facebook post today.

Fahmi also told the police that the controversial caricature of Musa, which he drew last year, was created in response to amendments to Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act that decriminalised satire and parody.

“To the government that is still investigating me over the caricature, I am ready to defend the drawing and will fight against any attempts to limit my right to freedom of expression,” he said.

In a Facebook post yesterday, Fahmi said he had been summoned by police as part of a sedition investigation over a video he produced on Musa.

He explained that the video was part of his Kelas Demokrasi series of workshops, live-streamed on TikTok, which discussed Malaysia’s constitutional government system and the electoral process.

Fahmi said it was the first time he had been called in over his series, although previous videos had been banned online and offline.

The artist was investigated by Bukit Aman last year over a graphic work featuring a figure resembling Musa.
