Anwar heads to Kenya for last leg of African tour

PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has left South Africa for his next stop, Kenya, following the G20 Leaders Summit in Johannesburg.

The chartered Malaysia Airlines aircraft carrying the prime minister and his entourage departed from the Waterkloof Air Force Base in Pretoria at 12.30pm (6.30pm Malaysian time) for the final leg of his three-country tour in Africa, Bernama reported.

Pretoria is the administrative capital of South Africa and is an hour’s drive from Johannesburg, where the summit took place.

Besides official engagements and participation in the summit’s sessions, Anwar met with his counterparts from other countries to discuss bilateral trade and investment matters, among other things.

The prime minister’s invitation to the G20 Leaders Summit was in Malaysia’s capacity as Asean chair for 2025.

He is scheduled to leave for Malaysia tomorrow, after his stopover in Nairobi, the Kenyan capital.
