Civil servant who secretly filmed woman at day market nabbed

Temerloh police said the woman and members of the public caught the suspect after she realised that he was recording her.

PETALING JAYA: A civil servant was arrested after recording a video of a woman without her permission at the day market in Temerloh, Pahang.

Police investigating the incident found several lewd photographs and videos in his phone.

Temerloh police chief Nasyim Bahron said the 41-year-old man was arrested on Nov 9 after the 33-year-old woman realised what he was doing, and caught him with the help of passers-by at the Pekan Sehari Temerloh.

He said policemen who went to the location seized his mobile phone.

“A check on his phone found a recording of the victim, as well as lewd photographs and videos.

“The man was detained for 24 hours before being released (on police bail). The investigation paper will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor’s office for further action,” Berita Harian reported him as saying.

The case is being investigated under Section 509A of the Penal Code for insult to modesty.
