TOKYO: Japan’s benchmark stock index dropped 2% early today, tracking declines in other global markets as traders awaited key earnings reports, including from chip giant Nvidia.
The Nikkei 225 shed 2% to 49,305 points, while the broader Topix index was down 1.7%.
The selling followed losses on Wall Street, fuelled by concerns that the US Federal Reserve could hold off on further rate cuts this year.
