SEOUL: Presiden Korea Selatan Lee Jae Myung berikrar menyiasat sepenuhnya kemungkinan kelemahan aspek keselamatan di tapak loji kuasa di Ulsan susulan insiden runtuhan meragut tujuh nyawa.

Beliau turut menegaskan mereka yang bertanggungjawab akan dikenakan tindakan tegas, lapor Agensi Berita Yonhap.

Kenyataan itu dibuat selepas pihak berkuasa pada Jumaat menemukan mangsa terakhir daripada tujuh pekerja yang terperangkap apabila menara setinggi 63m di tapak loji berkenaan runtuh pada 6 Nov. Mayat enam pekerja lain telah ditemukan lebih awal.

“Sebagai individu yang memikul tanggungjawab sepenuhnya terhadap keselamatan awam, saya amat kesal dan dukacita.

“Harapan rakyat agar mereka ditemukan selamat tidak kesampaian.

“Ketujuh-tujuh pekerja yang terperangkap akhirnya kembali kepada keluarga masing-masing dalam keadaan tidak bernyawa. Hati saya benar-benar pilu,” tulis Lee dalam catatan di Facebook.

Lee menyifatkan insiden itu sebagai kejadian ‘yang tidak sepatutnya berlaku’ dan berikrar mengambil langkah perlu bagi mengelakkan tragedi seumpamanya berulang.

Beliau menggesa siasatan menyeluruh dijalankan bagi menentukan punca sebenar kejadian serta berikrar melaksanakan hukuman tegas terhadap pihak bertanggungjawab tanpa mengira kedudukan.

Presiden itu turut mengarahkan kementerian berkaitan menilai semula keseluruhan aspek keselamatan di tempat kerja dan mengambil langkah pencegahan tambahan menjelang musim sejuk.
