The aide to Amirudin Shari had allegedly ‘become a millionaire’ since the PKR vice-president assumed office as Selangor menteri besar.
PETALING JAYA: Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari has been asked to address questions about the unexplained wealth allegedly amassed by an aide who is also said to hold an unusual number of state-linked positions.
The request was made in a new WhatsApp chat group named “MB Selangor” specially set up for the purpose and run by an administrator identified only as “Madani”.
In addition to Amirudin, whose mobile number has been verified, the chat group includes several Selangor state assemblymen from both the government and opposition, certain political party leaders, and at least two journalists — including one from FMT.
In the chat, “Madani” addressed his messages directly to Amirudin, urging the menteri besar to “answer honestly and fairly”.
“Madani” also alleged that the aide had “become a millionaire” since Amirudin assumed office, owns a RM3 million bungalow house, and taken his family on luxury overseas holidays.
Apart from holding a senior post in the state administration, “Madani” claims that the aide also serves as a constituency coordinator and on the boards of a state-owned enterprise and an established golf club.
The aide is also said to be on the verge of being appointed to the board of another Selangor state agency.
In the chat group, “Madani” asked Amiruddin to explain why “one person has been appointed to so many posts”, adding that it gives the impression that “no one else in Selangor is qualified”.
The menteri besar has also been asked to disclose the aide’s monthly income.
That chat group conversation also contains several other allegations, including that the aide had sought “development funds” from various contracts and benefited from several district projects.
When contacted, the aide, whose identity is being withheld, said it was not appropriate to comment.
FMT has also reached out to the menteri besar for comment.
