Cops confirm 11-year-old boy died following water confidence programme

PETALING JAYA: Police have confirmed that a student from Sekolah Kebangsaan Bandar Tasik Selatan has died following an event at the Desa Tasik sports complex in Sungai Besi, Kuala Lumpur, on Nov 5.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadli Marsus said a report was received on the incident involving an 11-year-old boy who was participating in a water confidence programme at the swimming pool in the sports complex last Wednesday.

“The student was immediately taken to Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz in Cheras and was pronounced dead on Nov 7, at 2.30pm.

“The boy’s remains were laid to rest at the Muslim burial grounds in Sungai Udang, Melaka yesterday,” he said in a statement.

Fadli added that an investigation has been opened into the case.
