Dream Beyond Borders: Maldivian music takes centre stage in Malaysia this November

MALAYSIAN music lovers will be treated to an unforgettable night of island rhythm, fusion sound and cultural connection at Dream Beyond Borders, a Maldivian music showcase celebrating creativity, diversity and unity through the universal language of music this weekend.

Happening on Nov 7 at the Petaling Jaya Performing Arts Centre (PJPAC), Dream Beyond Borders brings together four of Maldives’ most exciting music acts – 2OFUS, FASYLIVE, SPITBALL and the Heyvalla Boduberu Group – alongside Malaysia’s very own Tone Conspirators in one electric evening that bridges tradition and modernity.

Tickets are priced from RM106 and are available now at the 2OFUS official website.

Headlining the event is 2OFUS, the leading Maldivian fusion band and a symbol of resilience, creativity and unity.

Known for blending Dhivehi, Hindi and English lyrics with global influences, 2OFUS has become a cultural ambassador for Maldivian music by representing their nation on international stages – from Saregama’s Battle of the Bands International (second runner-up) to being shortlisted for Britain’s Got Talent Season 19.

Their music is a movement and one that celebrates cultural pride and inspires youth.

Joining them are:

FASYLIVE, a Maldivian rock band with raw, spontaneous sound built on powerful riffs and soulful melodies that merge blues, metal and traditional island rhythms (the band had previously performed at the renowned Rainforest World Music Festival);
SPITBALL, a punk rock powerhouse with energetic, youthful sound which captures the spirit and hope of the new Maldivian generation.
Heyvalla Boduberu Group, a traditional drumming and dance ensemble which brings the ancient art of Boduberu to Malaysia for the first time in an exhilarating fusion of rhythm, chant and movement that celebrates the soul of Maldivian heritage.
Tone Conspirators, a dynamic Malaysian rock band led by Ananth Kumar which is known for their electrifying live performances and high-energy sound.

Together, these acts represent the pulse of Malaysia and the Maldives – from the deep beat of traditional drums to the raw energy of contemporary rock.

“Dream Beyond Borders is more than a concert. It’s a celebration of people-to-people connection and a vibrant expression of friendship between Malaysia and the Maldives,” enthused 2OFUS band member Ahmed Adhuham.

“We’ve performed across the world but bringing Maldivian music to Malaysia feels deeply special because it’s about connecting two cultures through rhythm, emotion and storytelling.”

Echoing s similar sentiment, Malaysian act Ananth Kumar of Tone Conspirators shared:
