KUALA BERANG: Polis telah menahan enam warga Myanmar termasuk tiga wanita kerana disyaki menceroboh masuk ke Terengganu secara haram semalam.

Ketua Polis Hulu Terengganu, Sharudin Abdul Wahab, berkata mereka ditahan kira-kira 3.30 petang selepas kereta yang dinaiki kesemua suspek terbabas di Kilometer 388.8 Lebuhraya Pantai Timur 2 (LPT2) di sini.

Beliau berkata siasatan awal mendapati seorang suspek lelaki, yang berusia 35 tahun, telah menyewa kereta jenis Honda Civic daripada seorang individu di Selangor pada 1 Nov lepas untuk membawa suspek lain memasuki Terengganu.

“Suspek ditahan oleh sepasukan anggota polis dari Bahagian D7 Jabatan Siasatan Jenayah IPK Terengganu dengan bantuan pegawai operasi Lebuhraya Zon Timur 4 di LPT2.

“Pemeriksaan mendapati kesemua suspek yang berusia 22 hingga 35 tahun itu tidak mempunyai dokumen pengenalan diri dan suspek utama mengaku membawa masuk lima suspek lain ke negeri ini,” menurutnya dalam kenyataan hari ini.

Sharudin berkata pihaknya turut merampas sebuah kereta dan telefon bimbit yang dipercayai digunakan bagi urusan penyeludupan.

Kes disiasat mengikut Seksyen 26J Akta Antipemerdagangan Orang dan Antipenyeludupan Migran 2017 serta Seksyen 6(1)(c) Akta Imigresen 1959/63 kerana menyeludup migran masuk ke Malaysia secara tidak sah.

“Siasatan lanjut sedang dijalankan bagi mengenal pasti rangkaian sindiket penyeludupan migran serta individu lain yang terlibat dalam aktiviti haram berkenaan.

“Orang ramai diingatkan supaya tidak terlibat dalam sebarang bentuk aktiviti penyeludupan migran kerana bakal berdepan tindakan undang-undang,” katanya.
