PETALING JAYA: MAB Academy, pusat latihan dan pembangunan di bawah Malaysia Airlines Group (MAG), menandatangani perjanjian dengan syarikat pembuat simulator penerbangan dari Kanada, CAE Inc, bagi mendapatkan simulator Boeing 737-8 versi terbaharu.

Simulator itu akan ditempatkan di bangunan simulator penerbangan baharu MAB Academy di Sepang dan dijangka siap digunakan pada Julai 2026. Ia dijangka meningkatkan kapasiti latihan serta memperkukuh kemampuan akademi itu sebagai pusat latihan bertaraf dunia.

Pengarah Urusan MAG Izham Ismail berkata pelaburan ini menunjukkan komitmen MAB Academy terhadap keselamatan, inovasi dan penambahbaikan berterusan dalam latihan juruterbang, selain mengukuhkan kedudukannya sebagai pusat latihan penerbangan yang dipercayai.

“Simulator baharu itu akan meningkatkan keupayaan latihan dalaman kami, menyediakan latihan bertaraf antarabangsa selaras piawaian global serta menyokong pembentukan generasi juruterbang baharu,” katanya dalam kenyataan.

Selain simulator B737-8 yang ditempah ini, Malaysia Airlines juga mengendalikan simulator ATR 72-500 dan A330 NEO, dengan yang terakhir baru sahaja mendapat pengesahan bulan lalu. Ini menguatkan lagi kemampuan MAB Academy memenuhi keperluan latihan yang semakin meningkat.

Presiden bahagian penerbangan komersial CAE, Michel Azar-Hmouda, berkata kerjasama ini meneruskan hubungan hampir dua dekad antara kedua-dua pihak dalam meningkatkan standard latihan juruterbang.

Beliau berkata rantau Asia Pasifik dijangka memerlukan kira-kira 98,000 juruterbang komersial baharu dalam tempoh 10 tahun akan datang, dan CAE komited bekerjasama dengan rakan seperti Malaysia Airlines untuk melatih tenaga kerja tersebut.

Majlis menandatangani perjanjian itu turut disaksikan Perdana Menteri Kanada Mark Carney, sempena lawatannya ke Kuala Lumpur bagi Sidang Kemuncak Asean ke-47 dan mesyuarat berkaitan.
