MONTREAL: US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy criticised a United Nations aviation group for insufficient focus on safety and security while demanding reform.
Duffy stated that the body had extended itself far beyond its proper mandate by wasting critical resources on social programmes or climate financing initiatives.
He emphasised that such work has nothing to do with the safety, security, and efficiency of the global air transportation system.
The remarks were delivered at the triennial assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization in Montreal.
Duffy further indicated that the ability to achieve this reform would influence future US support for ICAO under President Trump. – Reuters
