2025 Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupe launched in Malaysia – CKD; 519 PS; 90 km EV range; fr RM728k

The next locally assembled (CKD) Porsche model to be launched in Malaysia is the facelifted Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupe, which retails for RM728,000 inclusive of taxes and duties, but excludes on-the-road fees, any options and insurance.

In addition to being the second CKD Porsche model to go on sale here, the Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupe is also the first Porsche plug-in hybrid (PHEV) to come out of Sime Motor’s facility in Kulim, Kedah as well as the first Malaysian-assembled Porsche to be exported to Thailand.

For the asking price, you’re getting a Cayenne with a coupe-like roofline and a PHEV powertrain that will get the SUV from 0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds on its way to a top speed of 263 km/h. Power comes from a 3.0 litre turbocharged V6 petrol engine that puts out 353 PS (349 hp or 260 kW) and 500 Nm of torque.

This is augmented by an electric motor rated at 176 PS (174 hp or 130 kW) and 460 Nm, with the total system output being 519 PS (512 hp or 382 kW) and 750 Nm. Said electric motor draws power from a battery with a gross energy capacity of 25.9 kWh (21.8 kWh net), enabling an electric-only driving range of up to 90 km following the WLTP standard.

In terms of equipment, the Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupe comes standard with adaptive air suspension that includes Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) with two-chamber, two-valve technology.

Other items on the kit list include high-definition matrix LED headlamps (32,000 pixels per side), a GT Sports steering wheel, the Sport Chrono package (includes a Porsche Design clock on the dashboard), a premium Bose surround sound system, four-zone climate control with an ioniser, 14-way powered front comfort seats with memory function, electric roll-up sunshades for the rear side windows, a 12.6-inch curved instrument cluster display and a 12.3-inch touchscreen with Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment.

Buyers will also get a choice of Black or Bordeaux Red for the leather upholstery, with the seats also boasting Porsche crests on their headrests. A set of 20-inch Cayenne S Design wheels is the default, while Carrara White Metallic, Chromite Black Metallic and Dolomite Silver Metallic are available exterior finishes at no additional cost.

“Since establishing our local assembly facility in Malaysia in 2022, Porsche has reached several key milestones that highlight the importance of this market. In just one year, more than 1,000 locally assembled Cayennes have been delivered to Malaysian customers, a clear indication of the strong demand and the trust placed in the Porsche brand,” said Christopher Hunter, CEO of Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP).

“In 2024, we marked another significant achievement with the launch of the first regionally assembled Cayenne for Thailand, reinforcing our commitment to becoming a strong assembly partner to Porsche in this region. Building on this momentum, we are excited to launch a second model, the Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupe in Malaysia for our customers,” he added.
