KUALA TERENGGANU: Majlis Bandaraya Kuala Terengganu (MBKT) memutuskan untuk mengekalkan kenaikan kadar sewa Pasar Payang 1 seperti mana yang ditetapkan sebelum ini.

Datuk Bandar Kuala Terengganu Datuk Rosli Latif berkata harga sewa di pusat perniagaan baharu yang dibangunkan oleh kerajaan pusat dengan kos lebih RM70 juta itu akan berkuat kuasa 1 Ogos depan.

Beliau berkata sehingga minggu lepas sebanyak 90 peratus daripada 110 peniaga yang menerima tawaran berniaga di Pasar Payang 1 telah membayar deposit dan menerima kunci masing-masing.

“Kita memutuskan untuk mengekalkan kadar sewa baharu terhadap peniaga sebagaimana dimaklumkan menerusi surat tawaran yang diedarkan kepada mereka sebelum ini.

“Keputusan ini hasil mesyuarat MBKT yang dijalankan baru-baru ini,“ katanya ketika ditemui selepas program Eksplorasi Gelombang Kasih Sejagat di Pantai Pandak, Chendering, di sini hari ini.

Selain itu, Rosli berkata operasi Pasar Payang 1 yang dijadualkan pada 1 Julai lepas terpaksa ditangguh ke 1 Ogos kerana proses ubah suai dan penambahbaikan lot kedai oleh peniaga masih berjalan.

Beliau berkata pihaknya juga masih melaksanakan kerja ubah suai bagi lot kedai jualan sutera dan batik di tingkat satu memandangkan jumlah lot yang tidak mencukupi.

“Untuk lot sutera dan batik, proses ubah suai terpaksa dilakukan bagi menambah lot kedai yang tidak cukup untuk menampung jumlah peniaga. Proses ini dijangka mengambil masa sehingga akhir tahun ini untuk siap,“ katanya.

Bulan lepas kira-kira 400 peniaga Pasar Payang 1 merayu supaya MBKT mengkaji semula kadar sewa yang didakwa meningkat mendadak antara 300 hingga 500 peratus.
