PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has decided that the country is now in the phase of “living with the Covid-19 virus” similar to how it is with influenza and other illnesses, says its minister Dzulkefly Ahmad.

He said this was in order to let the people continue to live a normal life, Bernama reported.

According to Dzulkefly, the decision was made during a meeting at the health ministry recently.

“In the meeting, we made a decision that we will now live with the Covid-19 virus. Similar to how it is with other viruses, such as influenza and chikugunya.

“It means we are back to full normalcy. However, if anything should happen, the health ministry will monitor the situation,” he was quoted as saying.

“We are always prepared and ready to take action if needed. The relevant communication will be made from time to time, if there are any cases.”

He said this at a press conference following an event held in conjunction with the celebration of Asean Dengue Day 2024 in Kuala Lumpur.

Dzulkefly also advised the people to always be aware of the latest developments of Covid-19 in the country by visiting data.moh.gov.my.

“If you have symptoms, go see a doctor for consultation and treatment. If you are in public areas always protect others by wearing your mask,” he said.
