PETALING JAYA: Telecommunications companies are ready to sign an agreement to take up share equity in government-owned 5G provider Digital Nasional Berhad for implementing a second 5G network, according to communications minister Fahmi Fadzil.
“They must complete the share subscription agreement by June 21, and generally they are ready to sign it,” he said. He was optimistic the formal process of forming the second network can then begin, Bernama reported.
Yesterday, officials of the communications ministry, digital ministry, finance ministry, and the ministry of investment, trade and industry held discussions on the implementation of the second network.
Fahmi said the second network will focus on industry and smaller enterprises.
