PETALING JAYA: Sebanyak 645.75 tan beras pelbagai gred termasuk Beras Putih Import (BPI) yang disubsidi dianggarkan bernilai RM2.1 juta dirampas dari sebuah gudang di Sibu, Sarawak, minggu lalu.

Kementerian Pertanian dan Keterjaminan Makanan (KPKM) berkata operasi oleh Kawalselia Padi dan Beras (KPB) dibuat di gudang terbabit menerusi Op Taring Bravo pada 15 dan 16 Mei lalu.

Menurutnya, pemeriksaan bersama polis dan Agensi Pintu Masuk dan Sempadan Malaysia itu mendapati premis berkenaan tidak mempunyai lesen di bawah Akta Kawalan Padi dan Beras 1994.

“KPB menyita stok beras terbabit serta dokumen berkaitan bagi siasatan lanjut di bawah Akta 522 dan Peraturan-Peraturan Kawalan Padi dan Beras (Pelesenan Pemborong dan Peruncit) 1996 PU (A) 624.

“Siasatan turut dijalankan terhadap syarikat terbabit, sama ada terbabit dalam aktiviti penyelewengan barang kawalan bersubsidi, iaitu BPI,” menurut kenyataan berkenaan.

Mulai 5 Oktober tahun lalu, kerajaan telah bersetuju untuk memberikan subsidi BPI sebanyak RM950 per tan metrik peringkat borong bagi Sabah, Sarawak dan Labuan dengan harga jualan runcit adalah tidak melebihi RM31.00 per kampit bagi 10 kilogram.

KPKM berkata tindakan menyeleweng barang bersubsidi adalah tindakan tidak bertanggungjawab yang membawa kerugian kepada negara dan mengakibatkan rakyat tidak dapat membeli barangan itu.

“KPB sentiasa berkolaborasi dengan agensi penguatkuasaan negara dalam mempergiatkan aktiviti penguatkuasaan bagi mengekang pihak yang cuba menyeleweng BPI di Sabah dan Sarawak termasuk cubaan membawa keluar beras tersebut dari sempadan negara.

“KPB memberi peringatan kepada semua pemegang lesen supaya mematuhi perundangan dan tindakan tegas akan diambil sekiranya pemegang lesen gagal mematuhinya,” katanya.
