MACC made the arrests over claims related to the provision of laundry services, as well as food and beverages, that were not provided by the company.
PETALING JAYA: The Selangor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained three officers from a skills training institute after suspecting them of being involved in approving RM36,000 in false claims.
Citing a source, Bernama reported that the two men and one woman, aged between 40 and 50, were arrested after having their statements recorded at the Selangor MACC’s office in Shah Alam yesterday afternoon.
Shah Alam magistrate Sasha Diana Sabtu allowed all suspects to be remanded for three days starting today.
The source said one of the suspects is the chairman of the skills training institute’s cooperative. Their detention follows investigations into two company directors who were previously remanded.
“All three suspects are believed to be involved in false payment claims totalling RM36,000 submitted by a company director last year,” said the source.
“The claims were related to the provision of laundry services, as well as food and beverages, that were not provided by the company.”
Selangor MACC director Alias Salim confirmed the remand of the three suspects and said the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
On May 16, it was reported that two company directors were remanded after submitting false claims totalling over RM40,000 to a skills training institute last year.
