Pelarasan tarif air baharu di Semenanjung, Labuan mulai 1 Feb

PUTRAJAYA: Bermula 1 Feb ini, pelarasan tarif air yang baharu bagi pengguna domestik di Semenanjung dan Wilayah Persekutuan Labuan akan dilaksana, demikian menurut Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara (SPAN).

Pelarasan itu, yang menyaksikan kenaikan purata sebanyak 22 sen bagi setiap meter padu, dilaksanakan di bawah Mekanisme Penetapan Tarif di mana struktur dan komponen tarif air diseragamkan untuk negeri-negeri di Semenanjung serta Labuan dan ia akan dikaji semula setiap tiga tahun bagi memastikan keselarasan dalam penentuan bayaran.

SPAN dalam kenyataan hari ini memaklumkan pelarasan tarif itu tidak lagi boleh ditangguhkan agar tidak menjejaskan kemapanan industri perkhidmatan air dalam jangka panjang sekali gus memberi impak kepada kualiti perkhidmatan bekalan yang dinikmati rakyat.

“Kenaikan ini masih rendah dan tidak dapat menampung kos sebenar penyediaan perkhidmatan bekalan air sebanyak RM1.75 bagi setiap meter padu berdasarkan rekod sebenar 2022,” menurut kenyataan itu.

Menurut SPAN, pelaksanaan pelarasan tarif air itu adalah berdasarkan keperluan dan permintaan Kerajaan Negeri namun Kerajaan Persekutuan melalui suruhanjaya berkenaan akan memantau secara dekat bagi memastikan penambahbaikan perkhidmatan air dilaksanakan selaras dengan kenaikan tarif tersebut.

Bagi meminimumkan impak kenaikan ke atas bil air bulanan rakyat, SPAN menyarankan operator bekalan air di setiap negeri untuk meneruskan inisiatif sedia ada dengan memberi bantuan kepada pengguna domestik secara bersasar seperti pemberian rebat kepada golongan B40.

Melalui semakan tarif itu, SPAN berkata operator air lebih bersedia untuk membuat pelaburan berterusan bagi membangunkan infrastruktur sistem bekalan air.

Antaranya untuk pembinaan atau menaik taraf loji rawatan air, membuat penggantian paip usang, melaksanakan penyenggaraan secara berkala dan menangani aduan dengan lebih cekap demi menjamin kelangsungan perkhidmatan bekalan air sekali gus memenuhi ekspektasi pengguna.

“Pelarasan tarif air yang mencerminkan kos bekalan air sangat penting bagi membolehkan operator air meningkatkan tahap perkhidmatan dalam membekalkan air yang berkualiti secara berterusan,” menurut kenyataan itu.
