PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Islamic Development Department-Yayasan Waqf Malaysia (Jakim-YWM) Musa’adah Fund has reached a total collection of RM8.8 million, says Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar (pix).

Mohd Na’im said funds from the Musa’adah Fund would be disbursed in stages to Palestine for the construction of infrastructure facilities.

“We are focusing more on post-conflict aid in Palestine. Our proposal is to build a hospital and a central kitchen.

“We will cooperate with several NGOs (non-governmental bodies) to build this facility we are planning,“ he told reporters after witnessing the exchange of strategic cooperation documents between YWM and LC Wakaful Digital Sdn Bhd as well as the presentation of mock cheques from the Musa’adah Fund here today.

The fund was launched in October 2020 and functions as a humanitarian aid fund for the needy, irrespective of race, religion, and nationality.

Regarding the strategic cooperation agreement, Mohd Na’im said it aimed to diversify the wakaf (endowment) collection and distribution platform through the use of the smart social assistance platform ‘GoBarakah’.

“Through GoBarakah, the community can give endowments in cash or make a donation through the purchase of e-vouchers which will then be handed over to YWM for distribution,“ he said. -Bernama
