ALOR SETAR: Lebih 80,000 pelancong negara ini mengambil peluang musim cuti sekolah untuk melawat dan bercuti ke Thailand dengan melalui dua pintu sempadan di negeri ini bermula Jumaat lepas.
Pengarah Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia (JIM) Kedah Mohd Ridzzuan Mohd Zain berkata setakat ini sebanyak 78,301 pengembara keluar ke negara jiran itu melalui Kompleks Imigresen, Kastam, Kuarantin dan Keselamatan (ICQS) Bukit Kayu Hitam.
Katanya, sebanyak 4,379 pengembara pula melalui ICQS Kota Putra, Durian Burung di Padang Terap.
“Kesesakan luar biasa berlaku di ICQS Bukit Kayu Hitam sejak semalam. Kesesakan ini berlaku disebabkan orang awam ingin menghabiskan masa cuti bersama keluarga (di Thailand).
“Destinasi pilihan pengembara ini adalah Hatyai yang menjadi syurga makanan untuk pelancong dari Malaysia yang dikatakan murah dan sedap,” katanya dalam kenyataan hari ini.
Beliau berkata JIM sentiasa bersedia menguruskan pengembara yang melalui pintu sempadan negara dengan membuka empat hingga enam kaunter kenderaan bergantung kepada kesesakan semasa.
Mohd Ridzzuan berkata kesesakan di pintu sempadan negara juga dijangka akan terus meningkat sepanjang musim cuti sekolah ini dan cuti perayaan Krismas nanti.
