Student uses pick up line on Ustazah during lecture, PHM cautions netizens not to normalise it at school

A video of a student delivering a pick up line to an ustazah during a school talk has gone viral.

“What’s the difference between my IC and you, Ustazah?” questioned the student in the video.

He then proceeds with the line, “My IC is in my wallet, but you’re in my heart,“ before jumping with excitement.

Despite the student laughing and clapping at the incident, many netizens were unhappy with the video, saying that this shouldn’t be happening in school.

Social media page, Public Health Malaysia took notice of this incident and published a statement on its Facebook on Dec 16, advising netizens not to normalise pick up lines at school.

“A pickup line is a planned action to strike a conversation with a stranger that comes with romantic or sexual intention. Schools are the pillars to educate and control the students,” the page asserted.

Although the media has made pickup lines popular, PHM considers the “entry” of pickup lines into schools to be a serious warning sign.

PHM continued, saying that in addition to being unhealthy, the trend allows students to treat the elderly with contempt, sets no boundaries, and, in a sense, provides them with opportunities to engage in immoral behaviour and communication.

“The teachers will have a difficult time instructing the students if this virus spreads further throughout the school.” They expanded.
