M’sian couple to fly home after being safely evacuated from Gaza

PETALING JAYA: On Nov 12, a Malaysian woman and her Palestinian husband were safely evacuated from Gaza through the Rafah border crossing into Egypt at 8:23 PM local time (2:23 AM Malaysian time).

The Rafah border serves as Gaza’s sole entry point not under Israel’s control.

As per Wisma Putra, the evacuation of Nurul Ain Haron and Mohamed AM Shaat was facilitated by the Malaysian ambassador to Cairo and other embassy officials.

Upon their arrival, the couple engaged in a video call with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Foreign Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir.

Expressing gratitude, the couple thanked the Malaysian government and embassy for their unwavering assistance.

Anwar also expressed in his Facebook post regarding the situation, where other countries also helped the Malaysian government to safely ensure that the couple were safely evacuated.
